Meet the creator
Hello gems
It's your girl, Joyce. Just wanted to drop a quick note on my webshop where you can get to know me a little better.
I always knew I wanted to break free from the ordinary "get a degree, get a job, start a family" path. Since I was younger, I've been all about creativity and craftiness. Forget about Barbie dolls and girly stuff. I was busy doodling, crafting, and playing video games. When I entered secondary school, my notebooks were filled with drawings and clothing designs. When I had to drop a level at the end of the first year I wanted to go to a creative school that would let me unleash my creative urges. But alas, I am a scaredy cat and fear got the better of me, haha!
Fast forward to high school, and that's when my small business, Beads & Pearls, was born. I was making jewellery and selling it to my family and friends. I participated in arts and crafts markets and organized a few myself! But life got busy, and I wasn't really vibing with the fashion markets. So, I took a break for a year to reinvent myself.
In 2020, I made a comeback and decided to go bigger and better! I rebranded my business as "Yama," which means "mountain" in Japanese. Instead of the small markets, I focused on conventions, and it was the best decision ever. People truly appreciated me and my brand, and I felt incredibly grateful for all the amazing gems I met along the way.
Today, I can proudly say that I'm doing what I love and offering something truly unique. I rock my own jewelry with pride, and I'm so fortunate to have all you lovely people join me on this journey. With Yama, I want to create and offer magical jewellery and gifts. I want to incorporate crystals, minerals, and pearls to design dainty, feminine pieces that are as unique as I am: A dreamer who sometimes gets lost, but always holds on to what and who I have.
